1 Month Old!

Our little guy turned one month old this week.  Its amazing how time flies! We finally feel like we know what in the world we're doing! LOL  It's been an amazing month filled with great moments like seeing him smile, watching him fall asleep while holding on to our hand and laughing at his bulldog impression.  We've also been peed on, pooped on and numerous other things that a year ago would have grossed us out.  (Ask Adam about his experience with the butt paste!) Now we just laugh!

We had a great Thanksgiving this year.  Tristan got to meet his cousins, Karson and Ella, while we got to have two days of being surrounded by family that practically begged to get to change his diaper while we sat on the couch.  We could get used to that :)

Two Week Update

As of yesterday, Tristan is now officially two weeks old.  It seems like these two weeks have flown by!  We've been lucky and had the grandparents come and help out.  Having them here during the day has actually allowed me to get some sleep and to get some things done around the house.  I'm not sure what I do all day but it seems like there is never enough time!  I thought I'd have tons of time to call and visit with friends, get some good books read...not so much.  Between feeding and changing and rocking, there is little time for anything else.  Luckily I am off of work until January and hope to get in some type of routine soon.  Even though it's been a struggle to get used to such little sleep, we've loved every minute of it!  Tristan is a wonderful baby and only cries when he's hungry or being changed.  The boy hates to be naked!  As long as he has clothes on, he's all good.  The minute we go to change his diaper or give him a bath, he lets us know he does not appreciate it! LOL
Love the little wrinkles he gets!

2 weeks old

We had our first big family outing on Saturday and it was a success.  I had twenty diapers, three bottles and two sets of clothes in his diaper bag but didn't need any of it.  He slept the entire time which was wonderful!  It was a bit scary taking him out like that but we enjoyed ourselves and were very glad we went!  We are looking forward to spending the Thanksgiving holidays with our families this week!  It will be our first officially holiday as a family of three now! :)

November 7th....Our greatest day!

Our little miracle arrived sooner than we expected!  On November 6th my mom came over to the house to help clean and do those last minute things that needed to be done before I was set to be induced on the 10th.  She also brought along her blood pressure machine since my doctor wanted me to check mine throughout the weekend.  I checked it as soon as she got to the house and was surprised at the high number.  After checking it two more times, we decided we better finish packing my hospital bag and take it with us.  Luckily, we were heading to St. Joseph's anyways!  My cousin and his wife had their baby girl the day before and we were going to see the little doll.  While visiting with them, I had a nurse check my blood pressure again.  After the second time, she said we needed to get down to the ER.  Great!  I just found out my blood pressure was sky high, the poor girl that was taking me to the ER kept running my wheelchair into everything and my husband was out playing golf.  Not how I wanted to begin this!  We finally got checked in and hooked up to monitors in an L&D room upstairs.  After a frantic drive from New Ulm, I felt much better once Adam arrived at the hospital.  We anxiously awaited news from the doctor on what would happen next.  We assumed we would be sent home on bedrest to wait until Tuesday but we were wrong.  The doctor on call wanted to go ahead and induce me since we were having so many problems with my blood pressure.  After hours of waiting, they finally induced me at 9:00 Saturday night.  Once I got the epidural at around noon the next day, it was smooth sailing for a while.  I began pushing at around 3:30 that afternoon and that's when we knew there was trouble.  The doctor said he was facing the wrong way and his head was turned.  Every time I would push, his heart rate would drop from 150 to 60.  She eventually tried using forceps to get him out but no luck.  She then saw that he was not coming out without a c-section.  At this point, Adam and I were both scared to death and worried about him.  In no time at all they had Adam in scrubs and we were whisked down to the operating room.  Tristan was born at 4:53 pm and was in perfect health.  We then learned the reason for all the trouble.  The cord was wrapped around his neck TWICE and would tighten every time I would push.  After he was born, Daddy got to hold him and we got to spend a few minutes bonding with him.  After I was stiched up, I sent Adam down to the nursery with Tristan while I spent the next hour in the recovery room.  He was finally brought to our room at around 9:00 that night.  We got to feed him for the first time and spend a couple hours cuddling with our little guy.  It was so amazing to finally meet this little person who I had carried around for 38 weeks.  It was the most amazing day of our lives!
We spent the next couple days getting to know him and learning what in the world we were supposed to do with him now that he was finally here.  We had lots of family and friends come by to meet the little guy and check on us.  We were finally able to come home that Wednesday.  I could have easily stayed another couple of days but poor Adam was about to go crazy in that tiny room.  Once we were discharged and made it safely home, I was sure glad to be there!

Welcome to the world Tristan!

Baby Updates

I've been having a ton of people ask when the little man is making his arrival.  At my 35 week appointment, my doctor said she was a bit worried about his size.  She said she thought he was a big boy and was worried because I was smaller.  As of right now, we are hoping to induce the week of the 8th unless he comes earlier.  I can hardly wait!  I look and feel like I'm about to pop any day.  These last few weeks have been miserable and I'll be sooo glad when it's all over.  I know it will all be worth it though!  And the best part is that we'll finally get to bring our little miracle home with us!  We can't wait to see what he looks like and what kind of personality he has.  We already know he's going to be very hard-headed.  Between both of his grandpas, Adam and myself, poor Tristan has no chance in that department!
So as of right now, we've got everything ready at home, the car seat is installed.... now we just play the waiting game and hope he comes soon!

Tristan's Room

I've been working on getting Tristan's room ready since this summer.  This was supposed to be completely done by August so I wouldn't have to worry about it once I started back to work.  Yeah, that didn't happen!  I've been working on it ever since.  It seems like there is always something that needs to be done in there.  I finally made myself leave it as it is.  I personally think it turned out pretty cute!  Once we found out we were having a boy, it was a pretty easy decision to go with a sports theme.  After countless hours of searching for just the right bedding, I found one we really liked at Target.  It had sports and puppies which was just perfect!  I've tried to keep myself out of the room but somehow find my way back in there at least once a day!

How we came to be....

I've always heard the saying - when you meet that one person, you'll understand why it never worked out with anyone else.  I never really understood that until Adam and I began dating.  I also never believed in soulmates....until I met mine.  Adam and I have known each other for years, since high school even.  Through all those years, he was always just Adam, my buddy.  Neither of us knows what changed but something definitely did!  We went on our first date December 30th and never looked back.  Something just clicked and we knew we had found the one we were meant to spend the rest of our lives with.  We both fell fast and hard and had never been happier.   Within the last two years, we've bought our first home together, got married and are now expecting our first little one any day now.  It has been the most amazing time in my life and I'm so blessed to have found such a wonderful man to spend the rest of my life with.
